What are dermal fillers?

As facial tissue thins out with age, your face can begin to look hollow. Dr. Adesomo injects dermal fillers underneath the skin. Dermal fillers are used to:

  • Replace lost volume
  • Help smooth wrinkles
  • Plump the lips
  • Get rid of vertical lip lines
  • Smooth chin creases
  • Improve facial symmetry
  • Restore a more youthful, healthy appearance

Injecting dermal fillers is a noninvasive way to help you look years younger in just a matter of minutes.

What are the different types of dermal fillers?

Dr. Adesomo uses various dermal fillers to help you achieve the best possible results. He talks with you about which products are the best match for your needs. Examples include:

Voluma is a dermal filler containing hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in your skin that keeps it hydrated and plump. As with other hyaluronic acid fillers, Voluma is a soft, gel-like injectable substance. It enhances and lifts sunken areas of your face.

Juvedérm is another hyaluronic acid dermal filler that helps give you a more youthful appearance in a variety of ways. Dr. Adesomo uses it to help soften folds and lines near your nose and mouth, fill acne scars, smooth chin wrinkles, plump the lips, and smooth areas under your eyes.

Restylane is a dermal filler made with hyaluronic acid as well. Dr. Adesomo injects it to help soften folds and lines near your nose and mouth, smooth vertical lip lines, lift and enhance your cheeks, smooth chin wrinkles, and smooth areas under your eyes.

What should I expect during dermal filler injections?

During a dermal filler treatment, Dr. Adesomo injects areas of your face that bother you. It takes just minutes for him to administer the injections. Most hyaluronic acid fillers contain lidocaine, which helps minimize discomfort during and after the procedure.

What should I expect after dermal filler injections?

After receiving dermal filler injections, you can resume normal daily activities immediately with no downtime. However, Dr. Adesomo may recommend you avoid intense physical activity for 48 hours to minimize bruising and swelling. Results usually last 6-12 months or longer.

If there are areas of your face that lack volume or have more fine lines and wrinkles than you’d like, call Houston Women’s Cosmetics to schedule an appointment or book one online with Dr. Adesomo and his team today.
